Welcome to your SCHOOL LIBRARY RESOURCE CENTRE
We really are here to help you achieve the best results you can (we also make sure the library is a friendly place, warm and easy to use).
OPENING TIMES:
Monday to Thursday 8.45 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.
Friday 8.45 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.
We are closed one lunchtime per week for Reader’s Group.
Pupils are welcome to use the library before morning registration, during morning break and at lunchtime. Please note that students using the library during lessons must get a library pass.
Mobile phones are not allowed.
There is no eating or drinking in the library.
You can borrow books when you have a library card. You need to register and get your parents to sign your membership form. You are responsible for the safe return of any library materials you take out. Lost membership cards cost £1 to replace. You may borrow up to 3 books for a period of 2 weeks, if you have not read your book within that period, you may renew it. Please do this before the ‘due date’ to avoid the need for us to issue a reminder. We do not charge fines for overdue items, you only have to pay for lost or damaged items. You cannot take any books out of the library if you are not a member.
You may also borrow DVD and Videos, one for 2 nights.
After school:
The library is open after school every day to provide a quiet space and help with homework. You are welcome to use the books or computers, and library staff will give any assistance you require.
For your enjoyment:
The themed library display is changed regularly and has associated quizzes, competitions and word-search which you can participate in. But don’t forget you have to enter to win a prize!
We have a READER’S GROUP that meets once a week on a FRIDAY lunchtime There are lots of activities, so please come along and join us.
Members of the Reader’s Group shall take part in the Doncaster Children’s Book Award. This scheme has lots of associated activities, giving pupils an opportunity to meet famous authors, participate in events at School and other locations in Doncaster.
Computers:
Library computers can be used for homework or research. Printing is free, please ask before printing multiple copies.
In the library you can read newspapers and magazines. We get a daily newspaper day and keep back copies for six weeks. We also have a small selection of magazines. We are always grateful for donations.
Finding the right information is one of the most important reasons to use a library. The library subject index file and Dewey Classification files help.
The library staff and student librarians are always happy to help. Don’t be shy about asking.
